Saturday, June 23, 2012 - Lately, Speculations have been mounting that the Colombian belly dancer is pregnant.
However, these claims have been quelled by her father who released a statement on Friday in a bid to calm down the speculations.
William Mebarak said, “I’ve heard certain media announce the confirmation of my daughter’s pregnancy. That’s absolutely false.”
This happened just few days since the star shot a music video her for single “Loca” .Shakira is popular for songs such as ‘Whenever Wherever’ and ‘Waka Waka’.
Word doing rounds was that she was pregnant of her longtime companion, Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique.
Some media outlets even went as far as claiming that the 35-year-old’s supposed pregnancy is being complicated by toxoplasmosis, a parasitic infection.
William added, “I’m hoping for good news, and hope it happens soon, because she knows it will make us all rejoice. I’ve never said otherwise.”
Shakira has kept mum on the issue. She is currently preparing for her upcoming album as she watches her boyfriend play for Spain in Poland in the Euro 2012 soccer championships,
